This program is currently out. All of the ride credits funded so far have been claimed, so new requests are paused. Check back here, or watch for word from SkillsUSA about when the program reopens — codes already issued still work.

How it works

From “I’m a member” to a $30 Lyft credit in about two minutes — here’s the whole trip, stop by stop.

  1. 1

    Verify your membership

    Three fields, a few seconds.

Enter your first name, last name, and email, and we check them against the SkillsUSA membership system. Use exactly what your chapter advisor registered — the match is strict, so "Mike" won’t match a record registered as "Michael."

    • Current members qualify, and so do members from the most recent school year.
    • The program is for members 18 and older — you’ll check a box verifying you’re 18+ when you enter your info.
    • No account to create and no password — verification is the whole sign-in.
    • Your name and email stay with SkillsUSA — partners only ever see anonymized trip data.
  2. 2

    Tell us about your trip

City and state only — never street addresses.

Tell us where you’re starting, where you’re headed, and what the trip is for: a job interview or training, getting to work, continued studies, a hiring event or industry tour, a credentialing exam, or a SkillsUSA activity. Then pick how many credits the trip needs.

    • Request up to 4 credits at a time — longer rides can cost more than one.
    • Each credit is a separate $30 code toward the ride fare — tips aren’t included.
    • You can also opt in to share your story later — how the ride made a difference.
    • Need more later? Come back and verify again — it takes two minutes.
  3. 3

    Get your codes and ride

    Codes appear instantly, on screen.

Your ride credit codes show up right away on a member pass you can copy from — individually or all at once. We keep them on file too, so a lost code isn’t a lost credit.

    • Redeem in the Lyft app: Menu → Rewards → Add promo code.
    • Add each code the same way; the credit applies to your next rides.
    • Credits cover the ride fare only — tips aren’t included in the voucher.
    • The program is funded in rounds. If a round runs out, the site says so and no new requests are taken until it reopens.

Redeeming in the Lyft app

  1. 1

    Open the menu

In the Lyft app, tap the menu in the top corner.

  2. 2

    Rewards → Add promo code

Choose Rewards, then Add promo code.

  3. 3

    Enter your code

The $30 credit applies to your next rides — tips aren’t included. Add each code the same way.

Common questions

Who qualifies for a ride credit?
Current SkillsUSA members and members from the most recent school year, ages 18 and older. If your advisor entered your registration but hasn’t formally submitted it, your membership isn’t active yet — ask them to submit it, then come back.
Do I have to be 18?
Yes — the program is for members 18 and older. You’ll verify that you’re 18+ when you enter your info.
It says my membership can’t be found. What do I do?
Verification matches your record exactly. Double-check your spelling, and use the name and email your chapter advisor registered for you — that may be a school email rather than a personal one. If it still can’t find you, ask your advisor to confirm your record, or email customercare@skillsusa.org.
How many credits can I request?
Up to 4 per request, each a separate $30 code. A cross-town interview might take one; a longer round trip might take two or more. If you need more later, just come back and verify again.
What kinds of trips are these for?
Rides that move your career forward. Eligible uses are:
  • Rides to job interviews and training
  • Rides for the first few weeks of work
  • Rides for adjacent situations that interfere with getting to work
  • Continued studies — trade school, community college, apprenticeships, and internships — on an as-needed basis due to a barrier
  • Employer site visits, hiring events, industry tours, workforce training programs, and SkillsUSA-sponsored career development activities
  • Credentialing exams or other workforce-related commitments
What if the program runs out of credits?
The program is funded a round at a time. When a round is fully claimed, the site shows a notice instead of the request form and no new requests are taken. Check back, or watch for word from SkillsUSA about when it reopens — any code already issued to you still works.
Does the credit cover tips?
No — the voucher applies to the ride fare only. If you choose to tip your driver, the tip isn’t covered by the credit.
Who’s behind this program?
SkillsUSA, Lyft, and Ford Philanthropy — partners in closing the last-mile transportation gap for members pursuing skilled trades careers.
How do I redeem a code in the Lyft app?
Open the Lyft app and tap the menu, choose Rewards, then Add promo code, and enter your code. The credit applies automatically to your next rides. Add each code the same way.
What happens to my information?
We use your name and email to confirm your SkillsUSA membership (and, if you opt in, to follow up about your story), and we store your trip details (city and state, never street addresses) so the program team can see how ride credits are being used. Trip details may be shared with Lyft and Ford Philanthropy to measure the program’s impact, but only anonymized — never your name or contact information.
I lost my code. Is it gone?
No — every code we issue is kept on file. Email customercare@skillsusa.org and the team can look up the codes attached to your membership.

Something else? customercare@skillsusa.org

That’s the whole trip.

Verify your membership and your codes are about two minutes away.
